In 2016, ELK Studios dropped one of its biggest hits ever in Wild Toro. ELK is now choosing to revisit this classic with Wild Toro 2.

This sequel is part of a series of Wild Toro-themed slots that ELK plans on releasing. We’ll discuss if the visit back to the Spanish bull-fighting arena is worthwhile in the following review.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

Wild Toro 2 is a 5x5 grid slot that features 259 paylines. It offers 259 paylines by default, but the number of lines can increase to 502.

The setting for this series hasn’t changed. It remains the same market square that was used in the first game.

The main difference, though, is the view. Wild Toro 2 features a bottom-up view, while the first one gives you a more-level look at the town.

The reels are also pulled in more to allow a clearer view of the market. That said, we like the atmosphere better in the sequel.

Wild Toro 2 Max Win and Payouts

Low pays include decorated royals that range from A through J. Higher pays include a silver coin, gold coin, orange, and flower.

The highest-paying regular symbol offers 5x your stake for five symbols. You can win as much as 10,000x the stake with features involved.

This game has several wild symbols. Its regular wild, which is a game logo, performs the basic duties of substituting for other symbols to deliver payouts.

RTP, Volatility and Betting Options

You can wager between €0.20 and €100 per spin. This range allows for jackpots going from €2,000 (0.2 x 10,000) to €1 million (100 x 10,000).

The Wild Toro 2 RTP is 95.0%, which is below average. Volatility is in the high range, which makes sense considering the large 10,000x max payout.

Wild Toro 2 Features

Wild Toro 2’s features revolve around various wild symbols, a win multiplier, Matador Respins, and different betting strategies.

Silver Matador & Golden Matador Wilds The Silver Matador symbol acts as a walking wild, moving left one reel following each spin. It continues in this fashion until exiting the reels.

The Golden Matador symbol is also a walking wild. However, it comes with the added bonus of a progressive multiplier (explained next).

Expanding Matador Respins & Expanding Reels

You trigger Expanding Matador Respins by landing at least 1 Matador wild symbol. Each Matador will add an extra row, topping out at 8 rows total. If the grid reaches 8 rows, then you’ll enjoy 502 paylines.

The Matador wilds deliver 1 respin for every reel/position they move to the left. You’ll extend the respins by landing another Matador(s). The win multiplier also increases by +1 whenever the Golden Matador moves over one position.

Toro Goes Berserk

Toro the Bull is yet one more walking wild symbol that delivers respins. Assuming Toro and the Matador are onscreen simultaneously, then Toro Goes Berserk will trigger.

During this feature, Toro charges at the Matador and leaves wild symbols in his wake. Whenever Toro beats a Golden Matador, then he gains a progressive multiplier. All extra Toro icons that land during this feature will receive a multiplier too.

Black Matador Symbol

This symbol appears to be just as good as any because it delivers respins, increases the grid rows, and triggers Toro Goes Berserk. The downside, though, is that the Black Matador is a blocker tile—instead of a wild—meaning it won’t contribute to wins.

X-iter Feature Buy

Like many ELK slots, Wild Toro 2 provides several X-iter feature buy options. You can choose from any of the following to spice things up:

• 100% Win – Guarantees a win for 5x the stake.
• Sticky Wilds – Delivers Expanding Matador Respins for 25x the stake.
• Bonus – Provides the Toro Goes Berserk bonus for 100x the bet.
• Big Bonus – Guarantees 3 spins with at least one Expanding Matador Respins feature for 250x the stake. Additionally, expanding reels remain in between spins, and every wild symbol becomes sticky.
• Super Bonus – Costing 500x your bet, Super Bonus is largely the same as the Big Bonus. The difference, though, is that the highest multiplier in a spin applies to any Gold Matador multiplier that happens on the ensuing spin.

How Does This Game Compare to the Original?

Wild Toro may involve the same storyline and setting as the sequel. However, it certainly differs in a few ways.

First off, Wild Toro doesn’t have quite the same win potential. It only pays up to 2,250x the stake, versus 10,000x for the latest game.

Wild Toro also doesn’t show as much of the Spanish town where the bullfighting takes place. The 5x4 grid, which features 178 paylines, takes up most of the screen.

Wild Toro’s RTP is much more impressive at 96.40%. We’re not sure why payback has fallen to 95.0% for the sequel.

Volatility is yet one more difference between these games. Wild Toro 2 is very volatile, while the first game has medium volatility.

Final Thoughts on Wild Toro 2 Slot

Wild Toro may be a classic that was wildly popular several years ago. However, the sequel definitely passes it by in key areas.

First off, the win potential, volatility, and overall excitement are just better in Wild Toro 2. You’ll enjoy the intensity of bullfighting due to the high volatility—without the chance of getting gored.

The town feels more lifelike thanks to the bottom-top view. You can actually see the marketplace and feel like you’re in a historic Spanish town.

You’ll also enjoy plenty of features in this slot too. The wild symbols combined with respins and a multiplier really up the wins.

The only complaint we have is the 1.40% drop in RTP. Outside of this drawback, though, Wild Toro is the new-and-improved version of the Toros.
