Court of Hearts is a 5-reel, 10-payline slot that’s based on Lewis Carroll’s Queen of Hearts character. It marks the second time that Play’n GO has visited Wonderland recently, following closely on the heels of Rabbit Hole Riches.
As you’ll see below, though, Court of Hearts isn’t much like Rabbit Hole Riches other than belonging to the same developer. We’ll discuss what makes it unique throughout the following review.
This slot spreads 5 reels and 10 paylines across a 5x3 grid. You earn wins by landing at least three matching symbols in a line. All payouts must move from left to right, starting with the first reel.
Play’n GO has put an interesting backstory behind this game. The Jack of Hearts has been falsely accused of committing a crime and is now on trial. He must somehow prove his innocence to avoid losing his head.
The setting is an outdoor courtroom that looks exactly like something out of Wonderland. The Court of Hearts features overly large chairs and benches, giant mushrooms in the background, and lots of trees.
During the bonus round, the Queen becomes angry and the sky turns red. It’s at this point that Jack really needs to be fearful.
Low pays consist of four card suits with little designs imprinted on them. High-paying symbols include the March Hare, Mad Hatter, Jack of Hearts, and Queen of Hearts.
The latter pays the most among this bunch at 20x for five symbols. You can win as much as 8,500x your stake with features included.
The Queen becomes wild during the bonus round. Characters like the Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat, and Dormouse also contribute to wilds through random features (covered later).
You can wager between €0.10 and €100 per spin. With the €100 max bet, you can win up to €850,000.
The Court of Hearts features 96.27% RTP. Play’n GO assigns this game a 9/10 volatility rating, meaning you can expect a wild ride through Wonderland.
This slot doesn’t bring anything revolutionary to the table regarding features. Nevertheless, the cascading reels, Rabbit Hole bonuses, and free spins do spice up the action in many ways.
This feature removes winning symbols from the grid and causes new icons to fall into their empty positions. Cascading reels continue until no more winning combinations are possible.
If the Rabbit Hole symbol lands on the reels, then one of the following three modifiers will become available:
You trigger 9 free spins when landing three scatter symbols on the reels. You’ll also receive a scatter payout worth 5x your stake.
Again, the Queen of Hearts is wild in this bonus. You’ll receive +1 free spin for every scatter that lands during free games.
All winning combinations cause a win multiplier to increase by +1. No limit exists on how high the multiplier can go.
Happening randomly, this feature adds 2 scatter symbols onto the reels. As a result, you only need one more scatter to trigger the bonus.
Like many developers, Play’n GO lays claim to multiple slots based on Wonderland. Again, Court of Hearts and Rabbit Hole Riches are their two latest additions to this genre.
Rabbit Hole Riches revolves around the White Rabbit character. It offers similar graphics to Court of Hearts, including a Queen of Hearts with the same appearance.
This game also offers many features just like Court of Hearts. A Rabbit Hole Bonus, Teacup Party Pick, Cheshire Cat Respins, Queens Army Free Spins, and Tower Power are all available. Rabbit Reward has the same function in this slot as with Court of Hearts.
Rabbit Hole Riches doesn’t offer as much win potential, though, topping out at 5,000x the stake. It also features a different setup with 3 reels and 5 paylines.
Play’n GO is doing a good job of telling alternative Wonderland tales, while creating slots that are quite unique from each other. Rather than developing a clone of Rabbit Hole, Play’n GO has designed a totally fresh game with mostly new features and bigger win potential (8,500x).
Court of Hearts adds cascading reels, three random features, and slightly different free spins. Rabbit Reward is the only feature that both slots share.
It also presents a new story and completely different background. In this game, we watch Jack of Hearts sweating through an illegitimate trial.
With two successes in Rabbit Hole Riches and Court of Hearts, it feels like Play’n GO could keep producing quality Wonderland slots. Don’t be surprised if the series continues in the near future.
