Several years ago, Big Time Gaming (BTG) introduced one of their most-popular slots ever in Bonanza Megaways. The latter has since gone on to become a legendary game.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

If you’ve played the original Bonanza, then you won’t have any trouble adapting to this version. Bonanza Megapays uses the same setup with 6 reels and up to 117,649 ways.

Reels 1 and 6 can hold 2-7 symbols. Reels 2 through 5 can contain 2-6 icons. A special 1x4 row sits above reels 2 through 5—thus adding an extra position to each reel. Add everything together and you get a maximum of 117,649 ways.

Bonanza Megapays looks nearly identical to the Megaways version. It takes place on a hillside mine and features a shack, mountain, and grass in the background.

The only major difference between the original and newer version is that the latter has progressive jackpot markers above the reels. It also features slightly better graphics along with a unique bonus setting (covered later).

The same hillbilly banjo tune that characterizes the first game also plays in the Megapays version. This banjo music can become a little annoying at times, but it’s no reason to completely avoid Bonanza Megapays.

What’s Different from Bonanza Megaways?

Other than this, you’ll notice minor changes in the background. Bonanza Megapays offers better graphics (it’s five years newer) and an interesting bonus setting.

The Megapays version doesn’t seem like an entirely new game. However, it changes just enough to be worth the re-release.
