On the surface, Prism of Gems seems like a typical 5-reel slot. It offers a unique format, however, whereby reels 1 and 5 are fixed with three symbols. Reels 2, 3, and 4, meanwhile, can offer up to seven symbols. This 3-7-7-7-3 format leads to the maximum 3,087 ways.
Most games like this (e.g. Megaways) usually have all of the reels feature variable heights. Prism of Gems differs, though, by only making three out of the five reels have variable positions.
You’ll notice that a horizontal Multiplier Reel sits above the regular grid. As discussed later, this special row delivers the win multipliers.
Prism of Gems is similar to other ‘ways’ slots regarding payouts. It awards winning combinations when 3+ matching symbols land in adjacent reels, starting with the first reel.
Not surprisingly, this slot centers its theme on gemstones. It also has somewhat of a medieval flair like the aforementioned Perfect Gems.
Prism of Gems offers 10 paying symbols, all of which are different types of gemstones. The most-valuable of these gems delivers 3x your stake for five symbols. As mentioned before, you can win as much as 30,000x the stake with bonuses included.
A special gem serves as the wild symbol. Appearing only in the horizontal Multiplier Reel, it substitutes for all regular pays to form wins.
The betting range runs from €0.20 to €100. These minimum and max bets allow you to win jackpots worth between €6,000 and €3 million.
The Prism of Gems RTP is 96.24%, which is above average compared to other slots. Volatility is definitely high due to the huge top payout and the multiple features that we’ll cover next.
Prims of Gems offers a nice variety of features that span from Split Symbols to avalanches. It also has a Multiplier Reel, which can really boost the size of your payouts.
All symbols from winning combinations vanish. New icons fall into the empty positions and provide more chances to win. Avalanches continue until no more wins are possible, at which point a new round begins.
As mentioned before, a special Multiplier Reel sits above the reels. This row attaches multipliers to all symbols that land in it.
Avalanches in the vertical reels boost corresponding multipliers in the Multiplier Reel by +1. The multipliers then apply to any winning combination that they help form.
They can increase up to 7x. Assuming two or three multipliers help create a win, then they’ll multiply each other.
The maximum possible multiplier is 343x (7x7x7). All multipliers reset at the start of a new spin in the base game.
When a symbol corresponds with the Multiplier Reel position above it, the symbol will split into two. These Split Symbols increase the amount of ways to form wins. If a wild gem lands in the Multiplier Reel, it splits all symbols in the corresponding vertical reel.
You trigger 10, 15, or 20 free spins when landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively, on the reels. During this bonus, multipliers don’t reset after each spin like they do in the base game. Therefore, you could potentially have a 343x total multiplier for a number of free spins.
Every scatter that lands during the bonus delivers +2 free games. No limit exists on how many additional free spins you can collect.
Again, Play’n GO has been on a gem kick lately. It dropped Perfect Gems in mid-2019 and Frozen Gems in late 2020.
Both Perfect (up to 21,609 ways) and Frozen Gems (up to 8,748 ways) offer more potential winning ways. However, these increased ways don’t add up to bigger maximum wins.
