In April 2020, Pragmatic Play dropped Fruit Party—a 7x7 grid slot with cluster pays. Fruit Party has been successful enough for Pragmatic to decide that a sequel is in order.

Fruit Party 2 comes back with the same basic format (7x7) and cluster-pays mechanic. However, it also expands on the features to some extent and jacks up the volatility level. You can see if these changes make Fruit Party 2 a worthwhile sequel in the following review.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

This slot plays out on a 7x7 grid. Each drop begins with 49 symbols falling onto the grid. Winning combinations happen when 5+ matching symbols form a horizontal and/or vertical cluster.

The original Fruit Party takes you to a bright-and-cheery land with hills, trees, and a cottage in the background. The sequel takes place in the same sort of setting.

You’ll see green grass, apple trees, and a cottage in the backdrop. The main difference is that the cottage offers more details this time around.

Day turns to night when you trigger the bonus round. In the nighttime setting, you’ll see smoke rising from the house’s chimney and little white sparkles floating in the air.

Fruit Party 2 Max Win, Payouts and Symbols

Symbols include grapes, an apple, heart, orange, plum, and strawberry. The latter pays the most among this group at 150x your stake for a cluster of 15+ symbols.

You can win up to 5,000x your stake when including features in the mix. This is the same maximum payout as in the original.

When 2+ wild symbols help form a winning cluster, their values will be added together (e.g. 8x + 16x = 20x multiplier).

How Does This Slot Compare to the Original Fruit Party?

The changes between Fruit Party and Fruit Party 2 aren’t drastic. They are there, however, to some extent.

The original starts the win multiplier off at 4x (instead of 3x) during free spins. However, this multiplier never goes beyond 256x in either the bonus or base game. Fruit Party 2, meanwhile, lets you increase the multiplier as high as 729x.

Additionally, Fruit Party doesn’t offer bonus buy. The sequel includes this fairly popular option at the cost of 100x your stake.

Volatility is also amped up in the second edition. You’re looking at a 5/5 rating in Fruit Party 2 versus 3.5/5 in the first game. The potential 729x multiplier definitely plays a large role in the higher volatility.

Final Thoughts

Pragmatic Play must be playing by the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Fruit Party 2 offers much of the same formula that has made Fruit Party a mild success. Its features, win potential (5,000x), and background are very similar to the original.

The biggest change is that wild multipliers can reach up to 729x in the bonus round. This is the point when you can start thinking about netting the maximum payout.

Speaking of which, you can win up to 5,000x the stake. We feel that Pragmatic should’ve boosted the win potential for the sequel, rather than keeping it the same. Ramping up the volatility without also increasing the top win feels a little empty.

In summary, Fruit Party 2 is a competent game that brings more of the same. If you like the first Fruit Party, then you’ll find this game worth a try. It does, however, feel like Pragmatic Play could’ve taken things further with the second edition.
