Microgaming is set to launch two brand new Ancient Greek themed slots this October. Both new games will be launched over their Quickfire platform, and should contain relatively the same features, in a move which can be likened to the way that the famous online casino software developer launched their trio of So Much Candy, Sushi, and So Many Monsters, this time last year.

The two new games already have names, and they have been announced. The first will be called Titans of the Sun: Hyperion, named after one of the twelve children of Gaia and Uranus. The second, known as Titans of the Sun: Theia, is based on the Titan goddess of the moon. Aside from the name, most of the other features in the two slots should be fairly similar.

Gameplay and wagering

With the launch of these games still over a month away, only a handful of information has been released about them at this moment in time. The slots will feature the usual 5 reels, upon which will sit a total of 15 paylines. The number of lines appear to be fixed into place, so players will only be able to adjust the coin values, and the number of coins they stake per line. Player should therefore be able to spin the reels of both these new slots for just 15p a spin.

Titans of the Sun Special features

Wild symbols are going to be present in both of these games, as are stacked symbols, known as mystery symbols. These symbols can appear randomly on the reels and turn themselves into one sort of symbol. They are, in effect, just like a wild, although they will all become the same icon, not any icon you need to win on a payline. We know that during the base game, these symbols won’t be able to turn into wilds, but during the free spins bonus, they will be able to just that.

Meanwhile, Hook’s Heroes also contains wild symbols. These wilds are also capable of appearing on all five reels of the game. The wilds take the shape of pirates wearing hats, meaning that there are multiple wilds present across the reels. Wilds can replace all other icons in the game, barring scatter symbols. It is unclear if wilds have any monetary value on their own.

Like most Microgaming video slots; both Titans of Sun: Hyperion, and Theia will offer a free spins bonus, and players will be required to land 3, 4 or 5 scatter icons anywhere on the reels to trigger the bonus round. We also know that players will get a total of 15 free games, but they can only retrigger the bonus in the former slot, not the Theia themed game. This is because the latter offers 2x multipliers in the free spins bonus, whilst the Hyperion game does not.

Launch date and final thoughts

The two colourful slots will contain the standard high playing card icons, as well as other thematic imagery, such a burning phoenixes, as well as Pegasus. The slots are set to be launched in the beginning of October at the same time as one another, and with little real difference between them, either could be a potential hit for Microgaming.
