The Paying Piano Club is a 3-reel, 5-payline slot from Play’n GO. This game revolves around a swanky club during the Art Deco period. This is Play’n GO’s second game involving the Deco era in recent times. It also put out New Year Riches not long ago. We’ll discuss if their latest 1920s style slot is worth playing.
The Paying Piano Club offers three reels and five paylines across a 3x3 grid. This setup is as classic as the game’s atmosphere.
You earn wins by getting 3+ matching symbols in a payline. Each winning combination needs to start in the first reel and travel from left to right.
The background shows a piano used by a club entertainer. You’ll see a wine glass on the right-hand side and a cigarette & ashtray on the left.
The piano dominates most of the backdrop and prevents you from viewing much of the club. However, you can see glimpses of the joint on both sides of the piano.
While we’d like to see more beyond a piano top in the background, this slot still does a nice job of taking you back to the Art Deco era.
Low-paying symbols include royals (A through J) that are fashioned into music notes. These royals are much more detailed than what’s seen with the average slot.
Higher pays consist of a banjo, drum, trumpet, and violin. The trumpet pays the most among this group at 20x your stake for three symbols. You can win up to 5,000x your stake when accounting for features.
A woman dressed in twenties-style garb serves as the wild symbol. In addition to substituting for other icons to form wins, she also offers payouts worth up to 20x for three.
You can wager between €0.20 and €100 per spin. An autoplay function lets you lock in your bet for a certain number of rounds.
The Paying Piano Club RTP is 96.2%, which is above average. Play’n GO rates the volatility at 6/10, making this game slightly more volatile than the typical slot.
This game does a nice job of spreading multipliers throughout the base game and bonus. You can read more on these multipliers and other features below.
The wild symbol can either occupy a single position or fill out an entire reel (a.k.a. “stacked”). In the latter case, you’ll receive three wilds (1x3) in a single reel.
A stacked wild not only delivers additional wilds but also comes with a multiplier attached. It can multiply your payout by 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x.
If you were to get three wild symbols in a line along with a 10x multiplier, for example, then you’d collect a 200x payout.
A musician acts as the scatter symbol. The scatter triggers 5 free spins when landing 3+ times anywhere on the reels. These free games also come with a starting win multiplier worth 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x.
This bonus introduces a gold coin scatter symbol. Each gold coin that lands on the reels will boost your multiplier by 1x and deliver +1 free spin.
The multiplier continues increasing until the bonus ends. Assuming you keep racking up free spins, then you can look forward to building a very large multiplier.
As mentioned before, Play’n GO dropped New Year Riches not long ago. This New Year-themed game is more atmospheric than The Paying Piano Club. It features a sky-high view of a 1920s city and feels more energetic.
However, this slot doesn’t boast as many features. The only bonus includes New Year Free Spins and a win multiplier that grows after each free spin.
The win potential for these slots is the same (5,000x). Therefore, the main differences include that Paying Piano Club delivers more features, while New Year Riches offers a superior atmosphere.
The Paying Piano Club also feels similar to Just For The Win’s Deco Diamonds Deluxe. The latter is a 5-reel, 9-payline slot that offers a glossy appearance.
Deco Diamonds Deluxe doesn’t provide a traditional bonus, but it does offer respins and a Bonus Wheel (pays instant prizes).
More and more Art Deco slots have cropped up in the last few years. The Paying Piano Club is yet one more addition to the list.
This game isn’t the Deco slot to end all. The atmosphere could be more detailed, and the win potential is rather average.
Nevertheless, The Paying Piano Club does have its charms. It does a nice job of ensuring that both the base game (stacked wilds/multipliers) and bonus (free spins/multipliers) offer enough features.
Assuming you enjoy Art Deco slots, then you should give The Paying Piano Club a try. You’ll probably find it entertaining for anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
