Polar Paws is a five-reel, 25-line slot from Quickspin. This game offers a combination theme involving both polar bears and Christmas.

It marks Quickspin’s first attempt at a holiday themed game. We’re going to discuss whether it’s a success in this Polar Paws slot review.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

Polar Paws has a standard setting for this type of game. It takes place in the hills of the North Pole, with mountains, snow-covered trees, and a cabin all visible.

The background is well designed and does a nice job of representing the polar bears’ environment. However, it also doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

This game is played on a 5x3 grid. You form wins in paylines going from left to right, starting with the first reel. The gameplay is as basic as it gets in the modern slots world.

Payouts and Symbols

The key symbols revolve around a family of polar bears. They include a bear with a scarf, bear in glasses, bear with a wreath, bear in a Santa hat, and a cub.

The bear wearing Santa’s hat offers the largest standard payout at 10x your stake for five symbols. This game’s biggest payout is worth 1,000x when features are included. This max payout is rather low compared to most slots.

Other symbols include a wreath, elf, bowl of chocolate, and royals (A through 10). The wreath is wild and substitutes for everything except the elf (scatter) and bowl of chocolate (multiplier wild).

You can adjust your bet size from €0.25 to €100. Assuming you risk the latter amount, then you can win as much as €100,000 when accounting for the 1,000x payout.

During this bonus, the elf becomes a Progress scatter that can turn the bear symbols into extra wilds. The amount of Progress scatters that you collect will determine the additional rewards you receive:

Final Thoughts on Polar Paws Slot

Quickspin hasn’t created the Christmas slot to end all Christmas slots in Polar Paws. However, they have at least developed a decent game that has some short-term entertainment value.

The high RTP and cute polar bears are appealing aspects. The Progress scatter symbols also throw an interesting wrinkle into the free spins.

Unfortunately, the low max payout and standard gameplay prevent Polar Paws from being a holiday classic. Again, though, it’s at least playable for a short while.
