Miner Donkey Trouble is a 5x7 grid slot from Play’n GO. It involves an old-time gold miner and his trusty donkey.
With several features and big win potential, this game offers plenty to like. You can read about these aspects and more in the following review.
This slot features five reels and seven rows (5x7 grid). It delivers wins whenever a cluster of 5+ symbols form.
Miner Donkey Trouble takes place in a deep cavern that’s complete with large wooden pillars, candles, and a ladder.
The miner and his donkey serve as the stars of this game. The donkey kicks the reels to begin drops, which see 35 symbols fall onto the grid. Meanwhile, the miner can also interact with the grid via his pick-axe.
This game features banjo music that falls in line with what you’d expect from a gold-mining slot. The tune may remind you of Big Time Gaming’s Bonanza.
All of the symbols revolve around different crystals and precious gems. The smaller gems serve as the low-paying icons. Crystal clusters comprise the higher-paying symbols.
The red crystal pays the most at 250x your stake for a cluster of 18+ icons. You can win up to 10,000x your stake when including features.
A diamond serves as the wild symbol and will substitute for all normal icons to form winning combinations. It doesn’t, however, offer any payouts on its own.
You can wager between €0.10 and €100 per spin. The Miner Donkey Trouble RTP is 96.27%, which is slightly above average.
Play’n GO rates the volatility at 8/10. The 8 rating means that this slot is fairly volatile, but not as insane as some of Play’n GO’s other games.
If you like features, then you’ll appreciate everything that Miner Donkey Trouble has to offer. Cascading wins, free spins, Mega Symbols, and special symbols are all available.
Symbols from winning combinations disappear and allow new icons to fall into their places (a.k.a. cascading wins). This feature continues until no more payouts are possible. Once a round ends, 35 new symbols will drop onto the grid.
Mega Symbols can randomly trigger on either a winning or non-winning spin. They consist of a gem, rock, or wild appearing as a 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 Mega Symbol.
You’ll notice the Donkey Destruction Meter on the left-hand side of the screen. This meter fills by one notch every time that you earn a win.
You’ll receive the following modifiers based on the number of collected symbols:
Golden Nuggets don’t offer any wins by themselves. Upon reaching the bottom, though, they’ll increase your win multiplier by +1. The multiplier continues increasing until the beginning of a new spin.
The pick-axe is another symbol that doesn’t deliver any wins. Instead, it’s collected and comes into play during the Pick-Axe Wild feature. The latter adds between 4 and 10 wild symbols to the grid in random spots.
Dynamite scatter symbols can appear and blow up following cascading wins. You’ll trigger 5 free spins when landing 3+ dynamite icons anywhere on the grid.
During this bonus, the win multiplier doesn’t reset in between spins. You can retrigger free spins up to 20 times before you’re forced to go back to the main game.
This game adds to a long line of gold-mining slots. It draws comparisons to the aforementioned Bonanza due to its music and theme.
The latter, however, differs somewhat with its outdoor theme. Bonanza is also a “ways” slot rather than a cluster-pays game.
In terms of atmosphere, Miner Donkey Trouble resembles Betsoft’s More Gold Diggin. The latter takes place in a dark cave that’s also full of gemstones.
Play’n GO isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel with the theme here. Many online slots deal with gold mining.
However, Miner Donkey Trouble separates from the pack thanks to its many features. This game boasts a win multiplier, cascading wins, Donkey Destruction Meter, Mega Symbols, and free spins.
Inexperienced slots players may get overwhelmed by the many features in play. If you’ve played grid slots with a fair among of bonuses, though, then you shouldn’t have much trouble adapting to this one.
The many features lead to high win potential with a 10,000x max payout. When combining the large possible wins with the multiple bonuses, you get an entertaining slot with plenty of replay value.
