Goblins are often depicted as underground cave dwellers who hoard treasure. Evil Goblins xBomb follows this depiction to a T by centering on a fiendish group of gold-loving goblins.
Proceeded by Fire in the Hole xBomb, it’s the second slot in Nolimit City’s xBomb series. As you’ll see in the following review, both games bear some similarities.
This slot opens with a 6x3 grid and 729 ways. However, the number of ways increase when the grid grows through xBombs.
Winning combinations happen when 3+ matching symbols land in adjacent reels. As with many games, all wins must start in the first reel.
Evil Goblins xBomb takes place in a dimly-lit cave with torches on the side. You’ll also see gold coins lining the floor.
You head deeper into the caverns after triggering the bonus. This spot shows even more gold on the floor along with a goblin using a contraption. A human skeleton hangs in the distance as a warning to any would-be trespassers.
Not surprisingly, the goblins also make appearances throughout the game. They appear at the top of the screen and interact with the reels to deliver features.
The lowest-paying symbols include royals (A-10) that are carved into stone tablets. Higher pays consist of five different goblins.
The highest-paying goblin delivers a payout worth up to 3x the stake for six symbols. You can win as much as 31,969x your stake when considering features.
You can bet between €0.20 and €100 per spin. This range allows for jackpots going from €6,393.80 (0.2 x 31,969) to €3,196,900 (100 x 31,969).
The Evil Goblins xBomb RTP is 96.14%, which is slightly above average. The different feature buy options carry RTP ranging from 96.03% to 96.81%.
Nolimit City rates volatility at 10 out of 10. This extreme volatility makes sense when considering the massive top payout and many features that we’ll cover next.
Like most Nolimit City games, Evil Goblins comes loaded with features. Avalanche, Goblin Sacrifice, special wild symbols, xBomb, Fresh Meat Spins, Goblins Feast Spins, and Evil 4 are all available.
All winning symbols are removed from the grid. New icons then fall from above to offer the chance at additional wins. Avalanches continue until no more winning combinations are possible.
Four of the goblin characters that appear as symbols can also be at the top of the reels. If a goblin symbol matches the character at the top, then the creature throws a grenade downward to turn the symbol wild. The goblin disappears after chucking its grenade and is replaced by another character.
Appearing in reels 2-6, different wild symbols include Dead, Resurrection, and regular wilds. These icons work as follows:
An xBomb blows up adjacent symbols, with the exception of any of the three wilds discussed above. Exploding xBombs increase the win multiplier by +1 and add an extra row to the reels. You can boost the reels as high as 7 rows.
This feature triggers when all four goblins at the of the screen are identical. One of the matching goblins will hold a 4x multiplier above reel 1.
Assuming a matching symbol appears within the first reel, then it’s counted as four symbols within a single position. The multiplier grows by another +1 whenever another identical goblin appears above the grid.
You trigger 8 or 9 Fresh Meat Spins by landing three or four scatter symbols, respectively. More Dead Wilds land during these free games, which boosts the chances of getting Resurrection Wilds. You can also look forward to better odds of landing xBombs and Goblin Sacrifice.
You’ll receive +1 free spin for every scatter that appears during this feature. Evil 4 automatically upgrades to Goblins Feast Spins in this bonus.
Assuming you land 3-4 scatters and 2 xBombs during the main game, you’ll trigger Explosive Fresh Meat Spins. This bonus provides the added benefit of guaranteeing xBombs on every spin.
When Goblins Feast Spins are triggered through Evil 4 or feature buy, you’ll receive spins along with the relevant Evil 4 multiplier. The multiplier increases by +1 whenever a matching goblin shows up on top of the reels.
This goblin will reset the spin count to 4 and remain there until the feature ends. This scenario can happen up to 4 times before spins stop resetting.
Assuming Goblins Feast Spins launch through Fresh Meat Spins and there are 5+ spins remaining, then the spin count becomes the Evil 4 multiplier figure.
This slot provides multiple ways to buy features. Here are the options along with their respective prices:
Both Fire in the Hole and Evil Goblins are highly volatile slots that can deliver huge wins. Fire in the Hole’s win potential, however, is higher at 60,000x the stake.
These games differ in features quite a bit too. Both provide xBombs, but Fire in the Hole relies heavily on Lucky Wagon Free Spins and its variety of unique symbols to deliver massive payouts.
The themes are of course different, with Evil Goblins centering on fantasy creatures and Fire on the Hole revolving around a crazed miner. Interestingly enough, though, both take place in caves.
Evil Goblins does a nice job of carrying on the xBomb series. Despite an extreme volatility rating, it’s a little less explosive. However, Evil Goblins xBomb definitely has enough elements to keep you thoroughly entertained.
You’ll enjoy plenty of avalanche wins and Goblin Sacrifice triggers. That said, the base game remains enjoyable even when you’re not triggering Fresh Meat or Goblins Feast Spins.
Much like with Fire in the Hole, Evil Goblins can wear on your bankroll. The 10/10 volatility will certainly put you through some rough patches.
Assuming you can handle dry spells, though, then you’ll have a good time hanging with these goblins. They may be evil, but they know how to deliver an exciting slots experience.
