Chaos Crew is a five-reel, 15-payline slot from Hacksaw Gaming. Its theme revolves around two zombie-looking characters named Cranky and Sketchy.

Hacksaw takes a different approach to gaming that includes developing simple slots for mobile play. Chaos Crew is a slight departure from Hacksaw’s signature development. We’ll discuss if the changes ultimately work out and make this a worthwhile game.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

Chaos Crew offers a strange setup that spreads five reels and 15 lines across a 5x5 grid. Most 5x5 games offer cluster pays. This one, on the other hand, operates like a traditional payline slot on an unconventional grid.

You earn wins by landing 3+ matching symbols in any of the paylines. All payouts must start in the first reel and move from right to left.

This game presents an off-the-wall theme that includes two weird-looking main characters and random symbols. Everything from 8-balls to butterflies land on the reels.

Wild Multipliers

When appearing in a win, Cranky will multiply the payout by 2x, 3x, or 5x. If 2+ Crankys appear in a win, then their multipliers will multiply each other. For example, 2x and 5x wilds would lead to a 10x multiplier.

Free Spins

You trigger free spins by landing 3+ scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. This bonus starts with 3 free games and will continue until you fail to get a prize in three consecutive spins. The counter resets to three every time that you win.

You’ll notice a number above every reel. At the conclusion of free spins, these numbers are added together and multiplied by your stake size. You receive a cash payout based on the result.

Hacksaw Gaming is slowly adding more sophistication to their slots. That said, Chaos Crew has more in common with Hacksaw’s recent efforts than its old ones (e.g. Om Nom & Stick’em).

Chaos Crew and The Respinners are quite different from one another regarding atmosphere and theme. Again, though, they’re representative of Hacksaw’s change from simple to more-complex gaming.

Chaos Crew is a worthwhile game if you’re looking to step outside of the box. It offers unique graphics, an interesting theme, and a unique bonus.

The latter sees you score wins through reel multipliers, rather than traditional symbol payouts. The bonus round can culminate in payouts worth up to 10,000x.

Chaos Crew isn’t without its drawbacks. The 5-reel, 15-line setup doesn’t allow for many wins when considering the high volatility. You’ll find yourself waiting for several spins at a time to get any kind of payout at all.
