Pragmatic Play released a mildly successful online slot called Extra Juicy in early 2019. Now, it's back with something of a sequel in Extra Juicy Megaways. As you'll find out below, Extra Juicy Megaways adds some new features to the equation. However, it doesn't quite offer the same win potential as the original.
Extra Juicy Megaways is all about fruit symbols and other classic symbols. It presents these fruits with glossy graphics, although, in the end, it's still just a fruit slot.
This game has a basic Megaways setup with 6 reels and up to 117,649 ways. Each reel can hold between 2 and 7 symbols. A display in the top-right corner shows the current number of ways.
One unique thing about Extra Juicy Megaways is that payouts can start from any reel. By contrast, every other Megaways slot we've reviewed requires that wins start in reel 1 and move towards the right.
You form winning combinations by matching up various fruits, a bell, and 7. Wins happen when matching symbols land in adjacent reels. You can win up to 5,000x your stake, which is down greatly from the 60,000x max payout in Extra Juicy.
You can wager between €0.20 and €125 per spin. This slot also includes an Bonus Bet option, where you tack an extra 25% on your bet. In return, you double your odds of triggering free spins.
The Extra Juicy Megaways RTP is 96.42%, and it rises slightly to 96.43% when the Ante Bet is in play. Pragmatic rates the volatility at 5/5.
This slot brings back the free spins that were important to the first Extra Juicy. However, it adds a few wrinkles with tumbling wins and a bonus buy option.
Following winning combinations, a new set of symbols drops to replace the old ones. Tumbling wins work differently from avalanches (a.k.a. cascading reels), where only winning symbols are replaced. Tumbles continue so long as you're able to keep stringing payouts together.
You trigger 12, 16, or 20 free spins when landing 4, 5, or 6 scatters, respectively. You'll also receive +4 free spins for every additional triggering scatter. For example, 8 scatters would give you 28 free games. Assuming you trigger 12-20 free spins, you'll have the option to gamble for more through a spinning wheel.
Scatter symbols become multiplier symbols during free games. They multiply payouts worth between 3x and 15x. Multiplier symbols remain sticky until a tumble sequence ends and a new free spin starts.

Released in 2019, the first Extra Juicy is a 5-reel, 10-payline game. Therefore, the obvious difference between these slots is the Megaways format in the second installment.
Despite only having 10 paylines, though, the original is a far more volatile game. It features a free spins bonus with a progressive multiplier, rather than multiplier symbols. The progressive multiplier increases by 1x following each spin.
You get 12 spins to start, while up to 60 free spins (four retriggers) are possible. That said, you could enjoy up to a 60x multiplier in Extra Juicy and win up to 60,000x your stake. The only issue, however, is that you'll need to brave incredible volatility to make this happen.
At first glance, this game doesn't seem to have any originality. Tumbling wins, feature buy, and up to 117,649 ways are rather commonplace in the online slots industry.
However, Extra Juicy Megaways does differ from similar slots in one big way. It offers payouts starting from any reel, rather than just the first reel. Scatter symbols changing into multiplier symbols during free spins is also uncommon.
The only problem we have with this slot is its nerfed win potential. 5,000x the stake is average in comparison to the industry, but it's not very impressive for a Megaways game. It's also less inspiring than the 60,000x fortune that Extra Juicy can deliver.
In summary, Extra Juicy Megaways has some unique elements and is worth trying. Just don't expect to get rich when playing it, though.
