NetEnt and its subsidiary studio, Red Tiger Studios, have been on a Megaways kick lately. They continue this trend with the launch of Divine Fortune Megaways. The latter is an update to NetEnt’s 2017 release, Divine Fortune, which is a hit Greek mythology themed slot that often features a six-figure progressive jackpot.
Divine Fortune Megaways upgrades the original’s five-reel, 20-payline format to six reels and 117,649 ways. We’ll discuss if this change is a welcome addition, or simply muddles what’s already a classic game.
Divine Fortune Megaways features six reels and up to 117,649 ways. As mentioned in the introduction, this format is a big change form the five reels and 20 paylines/ways that the original game offers.
Each reel in the Megaways version holds between two and seven symbols. You need seven icons in each reel to unlock the aforementioned 117,649 ways (6x6x6x6x6x6). Wins form when matching symbols land in adjacent reels, starting with the first reel.
Regarding the atmosphere, not much has changed from the original to the Megaways edition. Both games mostly feature the same background, symbols, music, and animations.
The only change is that the reels can feature anywhere from a 6x2 to 6x7 format. If you like the look and feel of the first game, then you’ll appreciate Divine Fortune Megaways’ atmosphere and graphics.
Divine Fortune Megaways brings back most of the symbols from the original. Low pays consist of royals ranging from 10 through A.
High-paying symbols include the Griffin, Minotaur, Nemean Lion, and Medusa. The latter pays the most at 5x your stake for six symbols. The max win is 500x your stake per spin.
Pegasus serves as a wild symbol. It substitutes for all of the regular pays covered above to help form winning combinations. Pegasus can also expand during a certain feature.

When a Pegasus wild lands on the reels, it triggers Falling Wild Respins. The latter starts with a free respin and the triggering wild remaining on the reels.
The triggering Pegasus moves down one position following a respin. The free respins continue coming until the wild has exited the screen at the bottom. You get one final respin after the last Falling Wild leaves the grid.
This feature triggers when a wild symbol appears on the same position as a Falling Wild. The entire reel then fills with Pegasus symbols.
Each of these wilds drops down one position following every respin. You continue getting respins until the last wild exits the reel. More Pegasus icons can land during Wild on Wild, which means that you can keep collecting more and more respins.
You trigger free spins when landing at least four scatters (Zeus’ lightning bolt) anywhere on the reels. You’ll receive 10, 15, or 20 free games for four, five, or six scatters, respectively. Additional scatters deliver another +5 free spins.
During free spins, any Pegasus that appears on the reels triggers Wild on Wild. Free games also feature Bonus Win symbols, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

NetEnt and Red Tiger haven’t made many changes in Divine Fortune Megaways. In most ways, it’s just like the original hit that’s become so popular.
The main alterations include the Megaways format, and three fixed jackpots replacing the two progressive jackpots. We can’t say that the sum of these changes is a massive improvement.
Many players will appreciate being able to get up to 117,649 ways, rather than the dry 20-line format. However, most will be disappointed that the large progressive jackpot has been replaced by a 500x Gold Win payout.
In summary, Divine Fortune Megaways is worth a look whether you have or haven’t played the regular version. It’s a nicely done slot that brings back much of what makes the first Divine Fortune so great. However, it’s nothing more than a decent Megaways slot in the grand scheme of things.
