Just a few months ago, Play’n GO released a unique slot called Fire Toad. The latter revolves around a fictional amphibian that’s born out of lava pouring into nearby waters. During our review, we found Fire Toad to be fairly entertaining.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

This game features 5 reels and 243 ways to win. Winning combinations happen when matching symbols land in adjacent reels. All wins need to start in the first reel and move left to right.

The maroon background is rather plain. It’s mean to portray a fiery background, although it comes off looking more like a curtain with small embers falling.

The old-school symbols don’t do much for the atmosphere either. The jewels and 7’s convey a classic theme that may remind you of an online slot from the early 2000s.

Blazin’ Bullfrog isn’t necessarily an ugly-looking game. However, its graphics and atmosphere don’t quite live up to the fiery title.

The only feature in this game is wild respins. You trigger this bonus by landing at least one golden bullfrog (scatter symbol) on reels 2, 3, or 4.

The triggering scatter becomes a stacked wild (1x3). You then receive a respin with the stacked wild held in place.

Assuming another scatter lands, then it too becomes a stacked wild and you’ll receive a second respin. With hope, you’ll land a third scatter and enjoy three stacked wilds.

If you’ve played NetEnt’s Starburst, or the clones that have come afterward, you’ll be well aware of these wild respins. Play’n GO isn’t bringing anything new to the table here.

How Does This Slot Compare to Fire Toad?

No real comparison exists between Blazin’ Bullfrog and Fire Toad. Both games sound like they offer explosive wins and plenty of excitement. Only Fire Toad, however, actually delivers true thrills.

For starters, its atmosphere blows Blazin’ Bullfrog out of the water. It boasts an interesting tropical setup, with flowing lava, water, mist, and trees in the background. As mentioned before, this scene is where the Fire Toad is created.

This game also provides a respectable 5,000x top payout and multiple features. The latter include base-game symbol upgrades and free spins with symbol upgrades.

We’re not saying that Fire Toad is the best slot ever from Play’n GO, but it’s definitely superior to Blazin’ Bullfrog. The latter just doesn’t have the atmosphere nor features to keep up in the modern gaming world.

Final Thoughts

Play’n GO has become one of the top slots developers thanks to a large array of popular games. However, even the best developers drop a dud from time to time.

Blazin’ Bullfrog definitely isn’t Play’n GO’s best work. The title suggests a highly volatile game that has the same personality as Fire Toad. The end product, though, is something that feels like it was made 10-15 years ago.

Blazin’ Bullfrog is nothing more than a glorified jewel slot with a fancy name. It doesn’t provide an elaborate background, serious win potential (1,215x), nor memorable features.

In fact, the only feature is a rip-off of Starburst’s wild respins. This game doesn’t even offer free spins or a bonus round of any kind.

If you’re into jewel-themed slots with some sort of abstract theme, then you might consider briefly playing Blazin’ Bullfrog. Outside of such rare tastes, though, you’re better off avoiding this slot.
