Push Gaming is no stranger to the high seas. One of its biggest hits, Razor Shark, takes place in the ocean depths. Now, Push Gaming climbs out of the water and onto a pirate ship for Booty Bay.

This game takes place on a 5x5 grid. Winning combinations happen when 6+ matching symbols form a cluster. If you’ve played any other cluster-pays game before, then you should have no trouble with this one.

Booty Bay takes place in an ocean channel that’s surrounded by rocks on both sides. You’ll see treasure on the left-hand side and part of a pirate ship on the right.

The 5x5 grid sits in the middle of the channel. 9 of the positions (3x3) are highlighted in yellow to show where the Hotzone (covered later) is located.

A tropical beat plays throughout the game. This music creates the impression that you’re somewhere on the Caribbean Sea looking for gold and jewels.

Booty Bay Max Win, Payouts and Symbols

The symbols consist of both objects and pirates. Objects include a copper coin, gold coin, silver coin, cannon, compass, and bottle of rum. The characters include a male pirate, female pirate, and the captain.

The captain pays the most among this group at 50x your stake for a cluster of 18+ symbols. Again, you can win up to 20,000x the stake when accounting for features.

The Booty Wild symbol (treasure chest) substitutes for other icons to form wins. It also plays roles in features that we’ll discuss later.

Locking Wilds

This feature triggers when a special Locking Wild lands anywhere on the grid. Any Booty Wild located within the Hotzone locks into its current position. Meanwhile, you’ll benefit from 3 respins.

Locking Wilds also come with a multiplier. While they don’t shift following respins, their multipliers increase by 1x after each respin. The respins reset to 3 whenever another wild lands on the reels.

Swirling Rapids

You unlock this feature by getting a Swirling Rapids symbol anywhere on the grid. A respin happens with all unlocked Booty Wilds entering the Hotzone and having their multipliers increase by 1x.

Treasure Map

This feature takes place when a Treasure Map symbol appears on the grid. A map then unrolls to show 6 potential prizes.

Once the prizes finish shuffling and are covered, you choose one to unlock a modifier or cash prize. Available rewards include:

Triple Wild Lock

Triple Wild Lock gives you 3 respins. Each wild sees its multiplier increase by 1x following a respin.

Meanwhile, Booty Wilds that aren’t in the Hotzone can move after a respin. The goal is to get one of these wilds into the Hotzone and reset the counter to 3.

How Does Booty Bay Compare to Other Pirate Themed Slots?

Pirates make for one of the most-popular slots themes. So how does Booty Bay stack up to the competition?

This game takes a playful approach to the idea of swashbucklers plundering islands for buried treasure. It has a different feel than more-realistic slots like Pirates’ Plenty Megaways (Red Tiger) and Pirate Gold (Pragmatic Play).

The atmosphere and graphics of this game are more along the lines of equally playful slots like Pirates 2 Mutiny (Yggdrasil) and Boom Pirates (Microgaming).
